Rokinon has revealed the new AF 45mm F1.8 Compact Lens for Sony E mount. It’ll be the company’s third compact lens and its seventh autofocus lens for Sony.
This 45mm lens seems to puts itself right in line for those shooting for portraiture, extreme sports, parties, lifestyle, architecture, landscape and street photography. Rokinon says the 45mm focal length brings “a natural appearance” that tries to get as close to human vision as possible.
Let’s look inside
This 45mm F/1.8 lens uses seven elements in six groups. Additionally, two Aspherical and one Extra-low Dispersion element and Ultra Multi-Coating elements are used to control vignetting, distortion and chromatic aberration. The lens’ rounded nine-blade diaphragm and f/1.8 aperture give the lens pleasing bokeh.
For focusing distance, the minimum focusing distance is 17.7 inches. Its 49mm non-rotating filter mount “allows for easy use” of polarizing and other filters that often require a lot of precision.
