Today, ROKINON has announced its new 14mm F2.8 and 85mm F1.4 full frame lenses,
Both the ultra wide-angle and fast telephoto lenses are the first 14 mm and 85 mm F1.4, built with manual focus control, to be released in Canon
mirrorless cameras.”
14mm F2.8 Canon RF
This ultra wide-angle lens is said to bring a “dramatic” rectilinear 115.7” view. The lens can focus as close as 11 inches. This lens would be well-suited for those working in landscapes or extreme sports, as well as professionals in astrophotography, interiors and real estate imagery who need an EOS R lens.
Inside, it sports 14 elements in 10 groups and uses four specialized element types: High Refractive Index, Hybrid Aspherical, Aspherical, and Extra-Low Dispersion. All of the elements work to minimize distortion and chromatic aberrations.
Also, the lens features a built-in petal shaped hood and a rear gelatin filter holder.
85mm F/1.4 Canon RF
As for this telephoto lens, it offers an F1.4 maximum aperture. So, its aperture should help the lens work well in low light conditions. Its optical design consists of 9 elements in 7 groups. That includes one Hybrid-Aspherical element that looks to reduce chromatic aberrations.
Additionally, the lens features a removable lens hood, a curved blade diaphragm and a non-rotating 72 mm filter mount. The 85mm is intended for travel, candid, portrait and close up photography,
Pricing and availability
Both lenses are coming this April. The 14mm F2.8 for Canon RF will be priced at $499, while the 85mm F1.4 for Canon RF is priced at $399. Both seem like they’ll be welcomed additions to the current selection of EOS R lenses.
