RØDE launches new Wireless ME microphone for content creators

RØDE has launched a new wireless microphone aimed at content creators. The RØDE Wireless ME uses the same form factor as RØDE’s popular Wireless Go range of microphones.

Wireless ME

RØDE has designed the Wireless ME to make capturing professional audio easier than ever. The system consists of a single transmitter and receiver, which are already paired when you take them out of the box. This makes it simple to start recording your audio straight away. The Wireless ME also uses RØDE’s state-of-the-art Series IV 2.4GHz digital transmission and proprietary near-zero latency codec with 128-bit encryption. RØDE claims this gives you crystal-clear, incredibly stable audio with a best-in-class range.

Built-in microphones

The Wireless ME’s transmitter unit has a built-in broadcast-quality microphone, so you don’t need extra equipment to start recording. You simply clip the transmitter to your talent to begin recording their voice. In addition, the mircophone’s receiver unit has a built-in “narrator” microphone which RØDE has called the “ME Mic.” This microphone allows you to record audio from behind the camera and in front of it. You can therefore use it to record a two-way interview or a voiceover while filming. In addition, you can connect a second Wireless ME or Wireless Go II transmitter to the receiver. This means you can use dual-channel recording or even a three-way wireless microphone system.

Perfect audio every time

The Wireless ME features RØDE’s GainAssist technology to make setup easy. GainAssist utilizes intelligent algorithms that automatically control your volume levels on-the-fly so that your audio is perfectly balanced and doesn’t clip or distort. RØDE says this feature is significantly more advanced than standard automatic gain control features found on cameras and other audio devices. In addition, you can choose between Auto and Dynamic modes to tailor GainAssist to each recording scenario. You can also adjust the output gain to match your recording device.

What we think

The Wireless ME promises to make capturing great audio even easier with little or no setup to worry about. The ME Mic is a great feature for solo shooters, allowing you to capture your interview audio while operating your camera. It’s also neat that you can expand the system with another transmitter for even more flexibility. In addition, the microphone works with all cameras, iOS and Android smartphones and Mac and Windows computers. Even better, the system has all the cables required for recording with compatible devices. It looks like RØDE has another winner on their hands with the Wireless ME.

Pricing and availability

The RØDE Wireless ME is available now and retails at $149.
