RØDE announces Wireless Go Gen 3 in a rainbow of colors

RØDE has announced the third generation of its Wireless Go microphone system. The RØDE Wireless Go Gen 3 adds 32-bit float recording and a new range of color options.

Form factor

The Wireless Go Gen 3 comes with two transmitters and one receiver. The units use the same compact square form factor as the previous Wireless Go model and the more expensive Wireless Pro.

In addition, the transmitters and receiver all feature an integrated clip design for you to attach them to belts, collars, clothing, and even cold shoe mounts. The Wireless Go Gen 3 also includes a Charging Hub so you can charge all three units, access on-board recordings and adjust settings.

Transmitters

The two Wireless Go Gen 3 transmitters feature built-in omnidirectional microphones. Alternatively, you can use an external lavalier or other microphone with the transmitter via a 3.5 mm socket. The sockets now offer locking connectors as well for added security with compatible microphones.

Also, the transmitters can record 40 hours of 32-bit float on-board audio internally. 32-bit float audio has such a large dynamic range that you don’t need to set a recording level. No matter how loud your audio gets, the signal won’t clip.

Receiver

The Wireless Go Gen 3 receiver features both a digital output over USB-C and an analog output via a 3.5 mm TRRS socket. This means you can connect the receiver to your camera, smartphone phone, laptop, tablet and more. The system uses RØDE’s state-of-the-art Series IV 2.4GHz digital transmission and proprietary near-zero latency codec. This also features 128-bit encryption and delivers crystal-clear, stable audio with a range of up to 850 feet (260 meters).

GainAssist

RØDE’s revolutionary GainAssist technology uses intelligent algorithms to dynamically balance audio levels on the fly. GainAssist also offers two modes, Auto and Dynamic. RØDE says that Dynamic mode produces a well-balanced signal while retaining more of the nuanced dynamics of your recording. Alternatively, you can switch off GainAssist and manually adjust the 30 dB of flexible output gain control. In addition, the Wireless Go Gen 3 features a safety channel that records a second copy of your audio track at a lower volume.

Color choices

Previously, with the Wireless Go, the only color options were black or white. However, Gen 3 now offers vibrant red, orange, green, purple, pink and blue variations. You can also opt for the more subdued cobalt, clay, lilac, stone, rose and moss color versions.

What we think

The RØDE Wireless Go Gen 3 adds great new features such as 32-bit float recording and locking microphone sockets. Content creators will also love the range of new color options that will look great on camera. The Wireless Go now has most of the recording features of the flagship Wireless Pro system, which is good to see. However, the Wireless Pro costs less than $100 more and comes with a charging case and two lavalier microphones. This makes your purchasing choices less clear unless you want one of the new bright color variants.

Pricing and availability

The RØDE Wireless Go Gen 3 retails at $299 and you can preorder it now. Shipping for the black option is scheduled to start in January 2025. However, you have to sign up to a waitlist if you want the white or one of the color variants. In addition, RØDE is releasing a charging case called the Charge Case+ which will cost $89.
