Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro offers a longer battery life

The Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K is a top-tier camera. Boasting a 6144×3456 Super 35 image sensor and superb 6K RAW image quality, the Pocket Cinema Camera 6K packs a lot of value for a great price. While it’s already a powerful camera, Blackmagic unveiled an even more powerful model: the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro.

Retaining the Pocket series signature handheld, portable design, the 6K Pro receives a few high-end hardware updates. The Pro model features a brighter, adjustable HDR touchscreen screen, a larger battery and built-in ND filters. Internally, it houses the same exceptional 6144×3456 Super 35 image sensor. However, the camera now features the latest generation 5 color science.

Making the system even more portable, Blackmagic included built-in, motorized ND filters inside the 6K Pro. These filters are 2, 4, and 6 stop ND filters. So, the camera is much more flexible when adjusting to any shifts in lighting conditions.

“Designed to match the colorimetry and color science of the camera, the 2, 4, and 6 stop filters provide customers with additional latitude even under harsh lighting,” Blackmagic says.

Blackmagic adds a bigger battery to the Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro

We’re ecstatic to see Blackmagic include a larger battery with the Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro. The original battery’s life is horrible. When reviewing the camera, we burned through all six of our EP-L6 batteries because they lasted only 35 to 45 minutes per battery. The 6K Pro houses a larger NP-F570 battery and, like the original, works with an optional Blackmagic Pocket Camera Battery Pro Grip. Additionally, the included AC plug powers the camera while charging the camera’s battery simultaneously.

The 6K Pro features a brighter HDR 1500 nit, 5-inch touchscreen, making it easier for users to use the screen outside. Additionally, the screen is more flexible. You can tilt the screen up and down, allowing you to monitor from a variety of angles.

There’s an optional viewfinder as well

If you want the entire experience, Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro supports an optional viewfinder. The viewfinder includes a 1280 x 960 color OLED display with a built-in proximity sensor, four-element glass diopter offering -4 to +4 focus adjusting. Additionally, the viewfinder comes with a 70-degree swivel range and four different eyecups for both left and right eyes.
