Panasonic has announced two new lenses for the LUMIX S1H and other mirorrless cameras: the LUMIX S PRO 24-70mm F2.8 and LEICA DG SUMMILUX 25mm / F1.4 II ASPH.
Compatible with the L-Mount system for the LUMIX S Series, the PRO 24-70mm F2.8 is an interchangeable standard zoom lens. As for the DG SUMMILUX 25mm / F1.4 II ASPH, it’s a renewed version of the original lens. It’s a DG fixed focal length lens based on the Micro Four Thirds system standard.
So, now let’s see what lenses for the LUMIX S1H and other mirrorless cameras have to offer:
LUMIX S PRO 24-70mm F2.8
With its rugged dust- and splash-resistant design, the PRO 24-70mm F2.8 should be able to handle a wide variety of shooting situations. The lens features a diameter of 82 mm and an 11-blade circular aperture diaphragm. Its full-range F2.8 aperture should create “smooth” defocus gradation for “beautiful” bokeh, according to Panasonic.
Its sensor drive can achieve a maximum speed of 480 fps, which should keep the autofocus moving fast. Also, there’s a mechanism in the lens that suppresses focus breathing, which is a problem with many interchangeable lenses that are made for stills shooting.
Build
Inside the PRO 24-70mm F2.8, there’s 18 lenses in 16 groups, three aspherical lenses and four ED (Extra-low Dispersion) lenses. The aspherical shape of the lenses “corrects astigmatism, achieving high resolving performance,” says Panasonic.

The LUMIX S PRO 24-70mm lens will be out in October for $2199.
LEICA DG SUMMILUX 25mm / F1.4 II ASPH
The LEICA DG SUMMILUX 25mm / F1.4 II ASPH sports a 50mm (35mm camera equivalent) focal length and minimizes ghosts and flare with Panasonic’s Nano Surface Coating. It sensor drives max out at 240 fps.
Build
The lens is made of nine elements in seven groups. It uses two aspherical lenses and one UHR (Ultra High Refractive) index lens.
