The latest firmware update for the Insta360 Ace Pro action camera has added new features and improvements. The camera is also now $50 cheaper, and this is a permanent price cut, not a short-term offer.
Horizon Lock
The 360º and 45º Horizon Lock feature for the Insta360 Ace Pro is now available in-camera. Previously, you needed to process your video in the Insta360 app or Studio to stabilize your footage in this way. With Horizon Lock activated, you can completely rotate the camera and your footage will stay upright and level. This also applies to videos shot in Video Mode, Active HDR, and Loop Recording. In addition, you can use Horizon Lock up to 30 fps in 4K and 2.7K, and up to 60 fps in 1080 HD.
Enhanced video
Low-light filming with the Insta360 Ace Pro has been improved with better automatic anti-flickering control. This is available in all shooting modes. The quality of underwater filming has also been improved so you can capture true-to-life colors. The firmware update delivers more realistic skin tones, better white balance and less noise in your underwater footage. In addition, the Insta360 Ace Pro has improved Gesture Control so you can simply raise your hand to start shooting underwater.
Enhanced audio
The firmware update gives the Insta360 Ace Pro a newly developed Wind Noise Reduction algorithm. This enhances the camera’s noise reduction capabilities and audio quality for clearer, crisper sound with your video. In addition, the Insta360 Ace Pro is also now compatible with even more Bluetooth audio devices. You can use the DJI Mic 1 and 2 as well as the Sena and Cardo helmet headsets. Once connected you can also use hands-free voice control with these devices.
Other improvements
The firmware update gives the Insta360 Ace Pro a new battery level display. Whenever you connect an external power source or tap the battery icon, you can see the battery percentage. Also, Clarity Zoom is now available in Burst Photo. This means you can zoom in without losing image quality. In addition, after the update, if you cancel a paused recording, it only deletes the last clip. Along with general bug fixes, the Insta360 Ace Pro now generates random Wi-Fi passwords for greater security.
What we think
The firmware update for the Insta360 Ace Pro action camera delivers some great new features. Being able to use Horizon Lock in camera means you can use your videos straight away without the need for post-production processing. The improvement to the Ace Pro’s audio is also welcome as wind noise can be an issue with action cameras. In addition, better low light and underwater image quality mean you can use the Ace Pro in even more situations. If you own an Ace Pro, you should download and install the new firmware as soon as possible. If you are looking to buy a new action camera, the $50 price cut makes the Ace Pro an attractive choice.
