Nanlite has announced a new eight-pixel RGBWW full color tube light. The ultra-compact Nanlite PavoTube II 6XR is the fourth light in the PavoTube II XR series.
The Nanlite PavoTube II 6XR’s design
The PavoTube II 6XR is compact and light weight. It measures 9.8 inches (25 cm) in length and weighs only 9.5 ounces (270 g ). This makes it ideal for use where space is limited and for detailed lighting.
The new light is also the smallest light in the PavoTube II XR series. The other options are the 2-foot (60 cm) 15XR, the 4-foot (114.5 cm) 30XR and the eight-foot (222 cm) 60XR.
RGBWW
The Nanlite PavoTube II 6XR is an RGBWW full-color light tube with 8 controllable pixel areas. It offers a CCT range from 2,700 K to 12,000 K with plus or minus 150 green/magenta adjustment.
Alternatively, with HSI mode, you can also choose between 36,000 different colors. In addition, the light includes 230 emulations of LEE and ROSCO gel filters. With an average CRI of 96 and a TLCI of 97, you can be sure that the colors in your scene will reproduce correctly as well.
Output
The PavoTube II 6XR packs a punch for a small light. Set to 5,600 K, it delivers 1556 lux at around 1 foot (0.3 meters) and 139 lux at just over 3 feet (1 meter). You can also dim the intensity from 0% to 100% in 1% increments. Also, the light features a uniquely crafted diffuser. Nanlite says that this makes the output softer and more uniform to wrap around your subject.
What effects does the The Nanlite PavoTube II 6XR offer?
Thanks to the eight separate controllable pixel areas in the PavoTube II 6XR, it can create a variety of effects. There are 10 built-in pixel effects, including hue loop, CCT loop. scroll, rainbow, and driving. You can also create your own patterns and effects.
In total, there are 15 special effect modes including police car, bad bulb, firework, explosion, TV and fire.
Controls
The Nanlite PavoTube II 6XR can be operated using its four-button control panel, which now features an updated UI and a streamlined multi-level menu system for easier navigation.
You can also control the light remotely via Bluetooth using the Nanlink App 2.0 on a smartphone or tablet. For DMX/RDM control, an optional USB-C to DMX cable is available, which also powers the light. The 6XR is compatible with CRMX systems when used with DMX.
Power
The Nanlite PavoTube II 6XR has a built-in 3200 mAh rechargeable battery. This delivers a runtime of 53 minutes at full power or over two hours at 50% brightness. The USB-C port on the light is also compatible with the PD 3.0 protocol. This means that you can use a range of battery banks and mains adaptor options. Additionally, Nanlite makes an optional NP-F550 battery grip, which attaches to the base of the tube.
Other features
The back of the PavoTube II 6XR has a polygonal design so you can place it on flat surfaces without rolling. There are also built-in magnets at each end to attach the light to suitable metal surfaces or the included iron plates. There is a ¼-20 screw thread in the ends to attach the light to a light stand. Usefully, the 6XR is compatible with the accessory ecosystem of the PavoTube II 6C which opens up even more ways to control and use the light.
