Lighting manufacturer Light & Motion recently added two new lights to its StellaPro range. The company claims the Light & Motion StellaPro Reflex and Light & Motion StellaPro Reflect S are the first true continuous strobe hybrid lights. This means that you can easily switch the lights between continuous output and strobe mode.

Continuous output

In continuous lighting mode, the StellaPro Reflex and StellaPro Reflex S can output up to 9,000 lumens of light when used with an external 100W USB-C power source. The output drops to 6,000 lumens when you use the included swappable, rechargeable USB-C battery handle. This high-performance battery has enough charge for up to 15,000 full-power, 5-millisecond bursts on a single charge.

In digital burst mode, you can adjust the flash duration of the Light & Motion StellaPro Reflex from 5 milliseconds to ½ milliseconds at up to 20 frames per second. With a 100w USB-C power source, the output is up to 18,000 lumens and 12,000 lumens on battery power. The StellaPro Reflex features the same output. However, you’re limited to 10 frames per second, with a constant flash duration of 5 milliseconds.

Modifiers

Both lights are daylight balanced at 5600K. You can shape the output from the Reflex and Reflex S using bayonet mounted optics — which delivers up to 43,000 lux at 1 meter. In addition, you can use a range of softboxes with the custom-designed lightweight Chimera Speed Ring.

Build quality

The Light & Motion StellaPro Reflex and StellaPro Reflex S’ build quality is high, with an IP-65 weatherproof enclosure. They can also survive a drop up to 1 meter. The StellaPro Reflex S weighs 27.2 ounces, while the StellaPro Reflex is a little lighter at 24 ounces. This makes them great for handheld use. In addition, both the light head and the battery have to stand mounts in the base.
