Irix announced the 45mm f/1.4 Dragonfly. It’s a new manual focus lens for the Fujifilm GFX and might offer the fastest aperture available on the system.
Irix promises the lens offers both a fast aperture and wide focal length. It’s built with a nine-bladed aperture and construction of 11 elements in nine groups. One of the elements is an aspherical element. Irix also says the lens renders up to 102 megapixels.
The 45mm f/1.4 Dragonfly for Fujifilm GFX has a fast aperture
One of the key features of the 45mm f/1.4 Dragonfly for Fujifilm GFX is its f/1.4 fast aperture. Irix says it has a unique depth of field that is rare for medium format cameras.
Design
According to the company, the Fujifilm GFX lens is “extremely practical” and “extremely durable.” Dragonfly lenses are built with reinforced metal and composite elements, so there’s no question there. Additionally, Irix designed the lens to be weather sealed. However, at this time, we don’t have an IP rating. We don’t know the level of weather protection its exterior offers. The 45mm f/1.4 Dragonfly has a fixed length with internal focusing, which allows it to seal better than lenses that can change their length.
Additionally, the 45mm f/1.4 Dragonfly for Fujifilm GFX is made with a reinforced internal construction, anti-slip focus ring, and scratch-resistance.
