GoPro Max overview
GoPro announced the GoPro MAX back at the beginning of October 2019. It is the successor to the GoPro Fusion and captures 360 videos. This action camera features dual 180-degree lenses. The lens shoots 16.6-megapixel 360-degree photos, 5.5-megapixel 4:3 shots all from one camera. Additionally, the camera can shoot 270-degree 6.2-megapixel panoramic photos.
As for video, it shoots 1440p 60 fps footage with a single lens and 5.6k 30 fps spherical clips. It also has its own version of HyperSmooth stabilization called Max HyperSmooth. Furthermore, the Max does sport a front-facing display, making it a great for content creators who want to vlog or to start vlogging. You can also shoot the camera’s time-lapse videos in 360.
Design and durability
As we stated before, if you’re familiar with the standard GoPro design, you will feel right at home using the Max. For instance, its touchscreen’s menu system is identical to the HERO8, though it’s slightly smaller. The camera is waterproof up to 16 feet, but GoPro has said it isn’t meant for underwater use. Also, the Max’s audio capture is impressive. It’s able to reduce sounds of wind and still allow your voice to be heard, even at winds higher than 20 mph. As for battery charging, the Max charges over USB-C. For full-day, heavy use, we recommend bringing two batteries.
