Godox launches updated and improved AD300 Pro II all-in-one outdoor flash

Godox has launched a new all-in-one outdoor flash for photographers. The Godox AD300 Pro II next generation of the original AD300 Pro which Godox released five years ago.

Compact design

The Godox AD300 Pro II all-in-one outdoor flash is a compact unit. It measures 7.36 inches (18.7 cm) by 3.94 inches (10 cm) by 3.54 inches (9 cm). Despite its size, the AD300 Pro II weighs 2.6 pounds (around 1.2 kg) with the battery attached. It also features a bright color screen and a metal control dial on the back. Together with the buttons by the screen, this means that you can quickly and easily scroll through and adjust the settings for the flash.

The AD300 Pro II has a group indicator light which you can configure in one of sixteen distinct colors to identify your flash groups at a glance.

Output

The Godox AD300 Pro II all-in-one outdoor flash delivers up to 300 W of output with a color temperature of 5,800 K (±200 K). When set to the maximum output, you can get around 350 flashes from one battery charge. The AD300 Pro II also offers a rapid 0.01–1.5 s recycle time at full power. In addition, the flash features a 12 W bi-color modeling lamp with a CCT range from 2,800 K to 6,000 K. This provides an adjustable continuous light so that you can preview your final look without firing the flash.

Pro modes

The Godox AD300 Pro II all-in-one outdoor flash delivers a full set of pro features. These include Freeze Mode, Color-Stable Mode, HSS and Multi. This means that you can work across mixed-lighting, fast-action and multi-strobe setups. The AD300 Pro II also offers a 10-stop range from 1/512 to 1/1 with ±0.1-stop increments so you have fine control over the output.

Plus, the flash offers full TTL support  and works with the auto flash systems of cameras from Canon, Nikon, Fujifilm, OM System, Panasonic, Sony, Leica and Pentax.

Triggering options

Thanks to the built-in Godox 2.4 GHz Wireless X system, X3Pro/X3 one-tap sync links the AD300 Pro II instantly. This means that there is no group or channel setup required. The flash is also compatible with other X-series transmitters including the XPro Series, X2T and X1. Additionally, the AD300 Pro II has a 3.5 mm sync port, and a USB-C port that supports the optional FR433 433 MHz receiver.

Accessories

The Godox AD300 Pro II all-in-one outdoor flash features the native Godox mount for use with the company’s ecosystem of modifiers. You can also pick up an optional S3 bracket if you want to use Bowens mount accessories.

There is an optional AD-AB adaptor which accepts mount adapters for Broncolor, Profoto and Elinchrom modifiers.

What we think

If you take still photographs as well as video, you will need a flash unit for the best results at times. The new Godox AD300 Pro II all-in-one outdoor flash packs a powerful output into a compact body that’s small enough to take with you everywhere. Its battery should also see though a shoot while you are out on location. In addition, the bi-color modeling light is a nice update on the fixed color light of the original AD300 Pro. If you are looking to pick up an outdoor flash or to upgrade your existing unit, the Godox AD300 Pro II all-in-one outdoor flash is a solid choice.
