Insta360 is following up its GO sports action camera with the new GO 2. The Insta360 Go 2 is smaller than the original and seems to be pivoting towards being a travel camera for creators and athletes.
According to Insta360, the GO 2 is the “world’s smallest action camera,” and that definitely appears to be true, weighing just 27 grams. Additionally, it is waterproof up to 13 feet underwater and houses a replaceable protective lens. All of this positions the GO 2 as a durable, travel camera.
“GO 2’s unrivaled combination of size, stabilization and performance allow it to do what no other action camera can: Capture the action without ever getting in the way of it.”
Insta360 GO 2 improves on video shooting
While it weighs six times lighter than the original GO, the GO 2 offers better video shooting resolution. The GO 2 shoots 1440p, compared to the original’s 1080p capability. It’s fitted with a 1/2.3” image sensor, which is standard for most action cameras. Timelapses are possible as well; the GO 2 offers a Nightlapse mode. You also can shoot hyperlaypse and slow-mo at up to six times the speed or down to 4 times the speed, respectively.
If you’re shooting a landscape, the GO 2 features a 120-degree “Ultra Wide” field of view. There’s also a 110-degree “ActionView” field of view mode for first-person shots.
How is the Insta360 GO 2’s stabilization?
As with most Insta360 cameras, the GO 2 implements FlowState stabilization. It also includes horizon leveling algorithms. Together, the two systems reduce shakes, bumps and rolls.
“With your hands freed up and FlowState stabilization keeping your shot steady, you can run, jump or ride with no holds barred,” Insta360 says. “With FlowState, you can go out with nothing but a thumb-size camera, and come back with footage that looks like it was shot with a high-end gimbal.”
Mount almost anywhere
Like the original GO, you can clip and mount the GO 2 to various surfaces. Its built-in magnet and Magnet Pendant allows you to attach it to many different surfaces, like your shirt, a headband, and even your car.
How long does the battery last?
The GO 2 comes with the Insta360 Charge Case. When inside the case, the GO 2 charges in just half an hour. The case keeps the camera powered for up to 150 minutes.
Companion app
During the shoot, the GO 2 companion app lets you preview your shots and adjust basic settings. After you finished shooting, the footage goes to a more expansive editor. Also, you can edit over WiFi as well.
Pricing and availability
The Insta360 GO 2 is out now for $299. Also, it comes with the Charge Case, Magnet Pendant, Easy Clip, Pivot Stand and Lens Guard.
