Canon introduces RF 24-105mm STM standard zoom lens

Canon has announced the RF 24-105mm F4-7.1 IS STM standard zoom lens, alongside its huge announcements for the Rebel T8I and the upcoming 8K EOS R5.

According to Canon, the news lens is a compact and lightweight RF lens that will be “the perfect addition to a creator’s collection, delivering on quality output …” This lens is intended to work with mirrorless cameras for those of all skill levels. Kazuto Ogawa, president and chief operating officer at Canon U.S.A. says the lens is for “entry-level to advanced professionals.”

“Having a firm grasp on the needs of our customers looking for an impressive compact, lightweight lens at an affordable price point, the RF 24-105mm lens is the quintessential lens to have in any creator’s camera bag,” says Canon.

RF 24-105mm breakdown

Size-wise, the lens is 3.5 inches (88.8mm) in length and weighs 13.9 ounces (395g). It has a zoom range that starts at 24mm wide. Additionally, the lens comes with Optical Image Stabilization. This will keep the camera steady up to five stops. Also included is Movie Servo AF with STM (stepping-motor). Canon says that pair will contribute to “both fast auto focus for still images as well as smooth, quiet auto focus for video …”

Pricing and availability
