Canon has launched a flagship new camera in its video-first EOS V series. The full-frame Canon EOS R6 V delivers 7K RAW footage at up to 60 frames per second (fps) and features in-body image stabilization.
Compact design
Canon says the new EOS R6 V is its smallest full-frame camera with in-body image stabilization. The body measures just 5.6 inches (141.8 mm) by 3.3 inches (83.3 mm) by 3.1 inches (79.7 mm). At 24.3 ounces (688 g) with a CFexpress card and battery, it’s also relatively lightweight. A magnesium alloy chassis should hold up to life on set, though Canon notes that some components are “consisting of polycarbonate with glass fiber.”
Full-frame sensor

The Canon EOS R6 V has a full-frame 32.5-megapixel CMOS sensor. This delivers 7K RAW and oversampled 4K up to 60 fps.
Alternatively, you can shoot 2K video up to 180fps and 4K up to 120fps for slow motion. The EOS R6 V also supports 3:2 aspect ratio open-gate shooting up to 29.97fps. In-body image stabilization delivers up to 7.5 stops of shake reduction to keep your videos smooth.
Dual Pixel AF
The EOS R6 V features Canon’s Dual Pixel CMOS AF II autofocus system. This delivers intelligent subject detection for people, animals and vehicles. Eye Detection promises sharp focus even in fast-paced scenarios. The Register People Priority option prioritizes up to 10 people for focus, which is ideal for solo shooters working with a larger group of subjects.
Log recording
The EOS R6 V supports recording in Canon Log 2 and Canon Log 3, plus standard Rec.709. You can also choose between Canon’s Cinema RAW Standard and Light, as well as H.264 and H.265, depending on your chosen resolution. For storage, the EOS R6 V has slots for one CFexpress Type B card and one SD card.

Other features
One notable absence from the Canon EOS R6 V is an electronic viewfinder. However, you do get a 3-inch (7.5 cm) TFT color LCD screen with approximately 1.62 million dots. The camera also features active cooling and can record four channels of audio. The EOS R6 V supports 4K 60p UVC (USB video class) via USB-C for high-quality livestreams. Another useful feature is a tripod thread in the handgrip for easy vertical shooting.
What we think
Canon has clearly styled the new EOS R6 V as a competitor to Sony’s FX3, FX30 and FX2 Cinema Line cameras. However, its 7K RAW offers much higher resolution video. Canon’s new camera also delivers superior in-body image stabilization and four-channel audio. Active cooling means overheating shouldn’t be an issue during longer shoots or livestreams. If you are looking for a new camera in the Canon ecosystem, the EOS R6 V has a lot to offer.
Pricing and availability
The Canon EOS R6 V is scheduled for release in late June 2026. It will retail at $2,499.
