Boris FX Sapphire 2022 introduces a new effect called ColorFuse. With ColorFuse, you can create cinematic color grades by combining up to three LUTs in different combinations and opacities. There are also fifty presets included. ColorFuse supports CUDA and Metal for GPU acceleration. It also natively renders on Apple M1 processors. In addition, Sapphire Effect Designer is a new tool inside Builder for getting stylized looks with ColorFuse.

UltraZap

Boris FX Sapphire’s UltraZap generates animated lightning bolts and other electric glow effects called Zaps. Sapphire 2022 adds new functionality to the feature by introducing Mocha Splines in UltraZap. This means you can apply your Zaps animations to motion-tracked paths from Sapphire’s Mocha interface. It also gives users access to features previously only available in After Effects on all platforms.

Speed boosts

The 2022 release also brings faster speeds and reduced render times in After Effects. In addition, improved support for multi-frame rendering means that Sapphire renders more than 20 percent quicker on average.

Adobe Photoshop

Boris FX Sapphire 2022 now offers host support for Adobe Photoshop, which is free to all Sapphire users. This update includes over 270 resolution-independent, non-destructive effects. You can even share your Sapphire creations in Photoshop with the other supported hosts such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Blackmagic Design Davinci Resolve, Avid Media Composer and Foundry’s Nuke.

Pricing and availability

Boris FX Sapphire is available on a subscription basis, priced at $62 per month or $495 if you pay annually upfront. You can also buy a perpetual license for $1695, which includes upgrades and support for 12 months.
