Atomos launches Ninja Cast desktop app

Atomos has launched a new Ninja Cast desktop app. Through the app, you can control the company’s AtomX Cast device from your computer.

What is AtomX Cast?

AtomX Cast is a modular add-on for Atomos’s Ninja V and V+ monitor/recorders. It connects to the Ninja’s expansion port to make it an advanced multi-input switcher. AtomX Cast also has four HDMI inputs and buttons with LED status indicators to switch between them. In addition, there is a dedicated program out HDMI. When you combine a Ninja V/V+ and AtomX Cast, it becomes the Ninja Cast, which is a stand-alone switcher, multiview monitor and broadcast quality recorder. The combined unit has a high-quality five-inch HDR touchscreen monitor, four HDMI inputs and physical control buttons. It’s also a great portable live switching and streaming solution. You simply connect it to your computer via USB-C and your computer sees it as a webcam. In addition, this means you can use it with apps such as Zoom, Teams or Skype without needing any extra drivers.

Ninja Cast desktop app

The new app mirrors all the functions of Ninja Cast on your computer desktop. This means that all settings and changes in the app apply to Ninja Cast instantly and vice versa. However, it also adds additional functionality. For example, using powerful Atomos AI technology, the desktop app can automatically compare camera inputs from user-chosen patches. It will then create the correct LUTs to apply to each input for perfect matching between cameras.

What we think

The launch of the desktop app makes the system even more flexible, as you don’t need to keep it within arm’s reach. This is because you can control all of its functionality from your computer. In addition, the AI-powered color-matching feature for different cameras is a great enhancement. If you use Ninja Cast, then you should definitely check out the app.

Pricing and availability

You can download the desktop app from the Atomos website now. It is available for both Windows and macOS and is free of charge.
