The Aputure Spotlight Mount II features telecentric optical elements for even edge-to-edge light distribution and minimal projection distortion. Aputure also says that the spotlight mount’s custom precision optics deliver clean projections with minimal chromatic aberration and color shift. In addition, you can rotate the spotlight barrel for fast projection pattern alignment.

Shaping your light

The Aputure Spotlight Mount II is compatible with B-size metal and glass gobos. It also comes with four metal B-size gobos for texture and pattern projection. In addition, you get a built-in 4-leaf cutter for precise beam shaping and controlled cut light. There’s an optional Spotlight Mount II Iris you can use to fine-tune the projected beam size as well. The Spotlight Mount II offers up to 80 degrees of downward tilt.

Compatibility

The Spotlight Mount II is designed for use with ProLock and compatible with Bowens mount LED fixtures. Aputure says that you are limited to lights with a maximum output of 800 W due to the heat generated. In addition, the Spotlight Mount II is optimized for use with Aputure’s STORM 400x and STORM 700x. However, it is also compatible with the amaran Halo 200x, 300x and 600x and the Ray 360c and 660c.

What’s included

The Aputure Spotlight Mount II comes in a kit with your choice of one of the four lenses. You also get four B-size gobos, and a gobo holder. In addition, the Spotlight Mount II includes a gel holder, safety chain and a hard case.

What we think

Aputure’s Spotlight Mount II is a great way to add shape and interest to your lighting design. With its precision optics, you can focus your light onto a specific subject or area of your scene. By using gobos, you can also quickly and easily add texture and drama to a plain background. In addition, the Spotlight Mount II’s all metal design means that it should stand up to the rigors of life on a film set. If your fixtures are compatible, the Spotlight Mount II could be a great addition to your lighting kit.

Pricing and availability

The Aputure Spotlight Mount II is available now $629. You can also buy additional lenses which come with a soft bag for $299. There’s a hard case which can hold three lenses for $110 as well. In addition, the Spotlight Iris retails at $99.
