amaran’s range of budget-friendly lighting products is popular with indie filmmakers and content creators. Now the company has entered the world of audio with a wireless desktop mic, simply named the amaran Mic.
Studio-quality sound
The amaran Mic features a large 30mm dynamic capsule, which the company says captures rich, natural audio. It also delivers a supercardioid pickup pattern. This helps to focus on the sound from directly in front of the microphone while reducing sound from the sides. In addition, the amaran Mic offers an 86dB signal-to-noise ratio and support for sound pressure levels up to 130dB. The built-in limiter keeps your audio clean and free from clipping even if the volume spikes unexpectedly.
AI noise reduction
The amaran Mic features its own built-in noise reduction. This helps to keep voices clear in everyday recording spaces without needing your computer to handle the processing. You can also choose between three settings. Original Sound delivers natural, unprocessed audio. Alternatively, Standard Noise Reduction is designed for light audio cleanup of steady background sounds such as fan noise and AC hum. In addition, you can opt for AI Noise Reduction to tackle unpredictable distractions such as keyboard clicks and traffic noise.
Wireless or wired
You can connect the amaran Mic with a USB-C cable for plug-and-play operation. Alternatively, you can use the microphone’s pre-paired USB-C receiver to go wireless. amaran says that this uses stable 2.4GHz wireless to deliver a transmission range of up to 164 feet (50 meters) in unobstructed environments. You also get up to 60 hours of battery life, so you can use the amaran Mic for long sessions without worrying about it cutting out.
On-mic controls
The amaran Mic features onboard controls, so you don’t need to open up software to adjust the main settings. You can quickly and easily switch between Noise Reduction modes or change the mic and monitor volume. In addition, you can mute the microphone, check battery status and monitor audio in real time. You can also use the amaran Desktop App for additional customizations. In the app, you can tailor your voice tone EQ presets and custom curves. There are options for Vocal Enhancement, Noise Gate, Limiter and more as well.
Flexible mounting
The amaran Mic comes with its own removable desktop stand, so it’s ready to use straight out of the box. amaran is also launching a Low-Profile Boom Arm later this year. You will be able to buy this on its own or with an amaran Mic. In addition, you can choose between Charcoal and White colorways.
