I am interested in getting a new computer to both edit short films on and play games on. While editing is the priority, I would love to get be able to play newer games on high settings. I know workstation cards are best for editing and gaming cards are best for gaming, but which would be best for someone who wants to do both?

I would recommend keeping gaming and video editing on sedperate computers.  But if this is just a hobby for you, and not work, then I would say go with a high-end GeForce card, as it will also work fine for editing video.
