I'm brand new to the forum, so I hope this is the correct place to post. I'm shooting my first documentary and I'm a prime-only user. I will be dealing with elderly people for the shoot, and want to use my prime lens set, but have never done docu-style work.

My question is, have any of you had experience where your subjects got nervous if you would use a prime instead of a Canon zoom lens for the shoot? Would most of you prefer to use a zoom to put some distance between you and the subject? I want to make sure they are comfortable, but also want it to look sharp and intimate.

      Any advice would be appreciated.
