Howdo folks, I was wondering if anyone can offer any advice.
I'm looking to get a sturdy tripod for a sony FS700R with basic set up, and various lenses. Approx weight range is probably 4kg to 6kg.
For the specific project that this is being assigned to, I merely need the camera to be rock steady when set up, with a center column to allow easy height adjustments, but I have no need for fluid heads, etc, as the camera will point in one direction only, the only adjustment would be height occassionally.
I only need to move it from the car to the venue, no outdoor trekking, etc. – so given my limited needs, what would people recomment I look at?

Hi adaptive – The best value for your money is probably the $130 ePhoto Professional Heavy Duty 75mm Video Camera Tripod with Fluid Drag Pan Head. In the UK, the £55.64 Ravelli AVTP Professional is very similar. I have one just like it, and it is a robust all-metal tripod that does the job.
Here's my Panasonic TM900 on the Ravelli: http://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-YjP8_oZCfkk/UsAWcfvufNI/AAAAAAAAIVQ/kjSl_LobHy4/w724-h543-no/P1070613.JPG
And here it is with my Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera rig: http://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-E8zs6jhWdGM/U1kT26C4l5I/AAAAAAAAItI/w8VwAHBG36k/w965-h543-no/P1080547.JPG
Hope this is helpful!

HI Bill, thanks for pointing me in the direction of that Ravelli. For the pricing point it'll definately be worth a try 🙂
