I’m making a short video sketch, where I’m going to do voices for the characters. The characters are from DC Comics and Star Wars.
My question is: If I were to create a script, where some of the lines were exactly the same as a show, would I be faced with copyright issues?
Yes. Even depicting the characters, and using their names might get you into trouble.
Depends. “Fair Use” in copyright law allows for limited use of copyrighted material for purposes of criticism, commentary, and parody. If you are simply trying to capitalize (accrue $ or glory for yourself) using someone else’s creative work, THATs a no-no.
