MemberI am a high school senior going to college for film production. I don’t want to buy a camera beacuse I will be able to take them out at school, However I still want to have something to film with just in case (aka my iphone 7 plus) I already have a tripod mount (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01EK8CLBI/ref=twister_B01EBEPDPM?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1) and I am looking for further ways to improve my phone video capabilities. Do you guys have any ideas on how? I know I want to buy a mic but not sure which to buy. I also dont want to spend to much money. Thanks for the help.

ParticipantIf you feel you must use an iphone, invest in a pistol grip. There are quite a few available at amazon.com (“camera pistol grip”), ranging from around $10-25. I use one on my DSLR and another on a small video camera. The grip ads a great deal of stability. You might also consider the steadycam device for stabilizing phones shown in the December issue of Videomaker Magazine.
Most importantly, remember to keep the iphone in the “landscape” attitude, thus avoiding black bars on the sides of your image.

ParticipantThere’s been several accessory smartphone lenses hit the market in recent years. Most are reasonably priced, as seen here on Amazon http://goo.gl/YmDccE.
A guy on Youtube has a demo video of the most useful accessories: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MezcjoqljSQ
