I’ve never done this before and may need a little help. I’m trying to record my band next gig with a couple different shots but I’m not sure how to go about setting up for audio recording. I think an external mic would be best but I’m not sure what to get. I prefer that it be stationary and really would like a mic that can pick up the low end well. I also want something that won’t clip. Is there something out there you think would work? I would really appreciate some help.
There’s another very similar topic going on at the moment – which may help, but the key feature is that acoustic instruments can be recorded with a distant mic position IF the space sounds good and the band has a natural balance. Add electric instruments and things get nasty very quickly – with worst case being that it sounds simply dreadful.
