Nas, effect question

Hi to all.

I have 2 questions.

1 I am using FCP 7 and i whant to know if I upload my footage to a NAS that has 1Gb ntwork card  

and my Mac has one too, if there is a problem (the nas has 2 HD 1 is for redundancy)

 

2 some one knows how to make a slow motion and then speed it up. Waht i am looking for is for the effect i see in movies when a car seems to be coming at certain speed and the slows down when the driver- passenger is in front of you. I do not know the name of that effect so i try to explain it best i can
