Hi all

I am just starting out as a video editor and I was wondering where to get music from an what the average going rate is for royalty free music. I have noticed that wedding videographers use regular music performed by artists, I didn't think that was allowed or is it just frowned upon by you tube?

Thanks

If a videographer use's music in a production and sells that video to a customer with-out purchasing a license for the music within it, he/she is breaking copyright law and eventually will face a hefty fine.
As for the going rate to license a cue for your production it all depends on what and where its going to be used for, ie Tv, Film, Youtube, Student Project, Corporate Presentations, Radio and so on
There are thousands of Royalty Free Music libraries on the interweb. As a stock music artist myself the best libraries I know of are : www.Pond5.com, www.productiontrax.com, www.soundvault.tv, www.musicbed.com
