Hi Bobby, congrats on the new camera! If I could buy only one Canon compatible zoom below $599 for filmmaking it would be the Tokina 11-16 f2.8. Nice wide lens, good in low light.
If you don't plan to use the 70D's awesome autofocus and/or you prefer cine primes, I recommend stretching your budget by $20 for a $619 Bower 24mm T1.5. Shooters are getting very good results with these Rokinon/Samyang/Bower primes.
