Our play by play analyst wants a new microphone but he wants a single headset with it to be used in a mixer. The camcorder we are using has 3 pin XLR. I can't seem to find a good mic with a single headset under $100. Am I looking in the wrong places? Can anyone steer me in the right direction? Thanks.
The reason they're so expensive is that they're a specialty item made for a very limited market (i.e. broadcast). Most of the units I'm familiar with start at $250 and go up from there.
I did come across a Stanton unit (less than $50 at Amazon) that may fit your needs but the specs on it are very limited so it's really hard to tell.
That may be the best option. I need to talk to him and see why he needs a single cup. We could buy the mic, a boom and then buy some other stuff for the price of a good one of these things.
Why not just use a Lav mic. You can get a pretty decent one for @$100.00
Scott, I recommend B & H Photo online. Go to bhphotovideo, com and search headset & earset microphones and browse for what you need. You may also find an adapter for your XLR under Pro Audio accessories, if needed, on the same site. I buy from these guys all the time and their prices and shipping are the best.
