      Hey everybody,
Do you have a standard for how much time is required to edit a set amount of footage? Obviously, there are a million variables, but if a client has 2 hours of footage with lots of talking, interviews, dialogue and a tiny bit of b-roll, and you have to cut it down to a 15 minute video, what you ball-park for the amount of time?

I’ve often said it’s at least a 3:1 ratio (3 minutes to edit 1 minute of footage) but can easily be a 10:1 ratio (10 minutes to edit 1 minute of footage).

Do any of you have a general standard for this as well?

You would need to look at the project, base it time you have done similar Projects and price it at like 50 or 200 300 dollars, it depends what you want to payed to do the project, how much charge for time times 2.5 would be the answer you want to get for overhead.
