Ok, I really screwed up this time. A teacher where I work wanted to set up a camera to video students working on a project and have the output go to a flat screen in the room and another flat screen in the adjoining room. I purchased a usb ptz camera, hdmi splitter, and 2 large display monitors. The plan was to split the signal from the camera to go to each flat screen. Problem is – the output on the camera is usb and the input (and output) on the splitter is hdmi.

Is there ANY way to make this work without spending a bunch of money?

And the set up is similar to an operating room where students can also view what’s happening directly from the upper floor, looking down over the project through a smaller viewing area. Picture one of those older homes with a skylight recessed well into the ceiling and the camera being on the wall under the skylight.

Go to B&H on-line and search for “USB to HDMI;” you’ll find quite a few devices at a reasonable price.
