I am thinking about buying the GH4 Lumix camera to shoot the following: Kids hockey games, soccer games, kids piano concerts, dance recitals.
I am trying to find out what zoom lense would be a good starting point to shoot all of these activities.
I was looking at LUMIX G VARIO 14-140mm f/3.5-5.6 as a possible starting point, but would love to hear from experienced video makers that could provide more input.

I think you need a faster lens.
I recently used a Lumix 35-100 f/2.8 for a Grand Prix Equestrian and a MotoCross Event.
Worked great for both.
I really did not like my 14-140 and sold it with my GH3.
Another thing for fast action is to shoot 1080P 60fps.
