FCPX Export – Pro Res or H.264

When I used FCP7 and used default export this was always in Pro Res 422. Now with FCPX on a few occasions I’ve used H.264. The resulting files are of course a fraction of what they would have been in Pro Res.
I did a simple test and exported a short movie in both codecs. I was struggling to find a difference in quality by pixel peeping alone.
So wondering if this is a common workflow? Edit in Pro Res and export final product in H.264? Is there any advantage in exporting in Pro Res beside the ability to re-edit the file again?
