      Hi,
I film product reviews on YouTube and sometimes shoot products with LCD screens, such as smartwatches or smartphones.
Could someone please tell me what the best settings are for filming a screen while it is turned on?
The problem I have is that I film using auto settings (except focus) and the camera tends to either expose the display correctly but with a dark room or vice versa. How do I fix this?

Easiest way is to go manual and use your camera’s iris. If the product and its screen isn’t moving you also could composite the screen image into the shot in post. I’ve done this quite successfully with an image on a video monitor.
