ParticipantAny suggestions for a camera that is compatible with iMovie 10 (iOS Mavericks)…in other words no additional file conversions required? Budget is $1,500 and I want included:
• Handle (mounted to camera)
• External shotgun mic (affixed to shoe mount on handle)
• Protective Case
• Tripod
• Extra battery

The best camcorder option is probably a used JVC GY-HM100U for $954.25 from Amazon Warehouse Deals. This price includes the top handle and the microphone. The HM100U records to Quicktime .mov files that are 100% compatible with iMovie and Final Cut without transcoding.
Here are a couple of examples of what this camcorder can do:
With a $28 Wasabi spare battery, a $120 Ravelli AVTP dual-handle fluid head tripod and a $43 pro camcorder case, you'll be in business for less than $1200.
Hope this is helpful!
