Is there a video or still (DSLR) camera that takes both at the same time?  With 10 megapixel stills and camera does not pause during video.  I tried the Canon t3i it works but stalls during photo taking.

My canon Vixias will take stills. But I usually us my still cameras for stills

The Vixia HF G10 take large 8-10 meg pixal range stills but works so well as a video cam I havent

shoot a still with it yet. I also carry a fuji finepix advanced point and shoot with a 12 mega pixal chip that also shoots 700P video that I take on hikes in the mountains so i can shoot video or stills as i wish. It is a small, light camera that doesn't weigh much, I have not tried to shoot a still in the middle of shooting video, my mind set doesn't let me, My philosphy is Still camera shoot for the decisive moment and take one kind of concentration, In video shoot all of the moments concentrating on framing focus and sound, and then edit out the bad stuff.

Hi ridewake – the new $648 Sony RX100, soon-to-ship $897 Nikon 1 V2 and earlier $369 Nikon 1 V1 and $397 Nikon 1 J1 are capable of shooting simultaneous high resolution stills and video.

If your budget permits, the RX100 produces fabulous 20.2MP stills and 1080/60p video.

Here are the stills people are shooting with it:http://www.flickr.com/groups/rx100/pool/

Here is a video, shot by pro photographer Mike Kobal, in NYC after Hurricane Sandy: https://vimeo.com/52568721

      Hope this is helpful,
