I need to brighten a specific portion of the video. Not as in so many frames, but something within each frame that needs edited. Example, a video was shot in a night club with a birthday cake with lit candles. Brightening the whole video is too much, what I would like to do is section off the area with the birthday cake, and only brighten the area around it for the duration of the video. Is this possible with any known editing software?
Yes, there are many techniques you can use. The simplest is using a color corrector. Try adjusting the gamma of the scene to boost the middle tones and leaving the bright and dark areas untouched. If you need more control, isolate the problem area using a garbage mask or a wipe.
