I am trying to convert my dads old home movies off of 8mm to digital.  I am doing this by playing the film and recording to my GH3.  The problem is I cannot sync my camera to the 8mm without getting the flicker effect.  What settings should I use to stop this?

That is not a good way of doing it.

Unless you have the right equipment, i.e. a film scanner, I would strongly advice you to have it done by a pro.
