stop motion blur effect

I was reading the article by Kyle Cassidy in the March 2005 issue about making alien effects (last paragraph on p.51). One thing he mentioned was using the stop motion blur effect. My Adobe Premiere group doesn’t have any suggestions. Is there a plug-in or third party software that can be used to create this effect or is there a way to do it with a DV cam? Using AP 6.5 with a Sony VX2000 camera.

Try using a slower shutter speed on your camera. My Canon GL2 goes down to about 1/8th of a second. The resulting effect is similar to what they use for drunk re-enactment scenes on TV. Is this the effect you’re looking for? (A jerky, blurry effect)
