I was attempting to play some DVDs I had recorded a few years back and one of my SONY players gave me a ‘dirty disc’ report, the other would play the discs until the video froze after 10 min, and the DVD player on my SONY computer could get through most but not all of the discs. This looks to be like instability in the imprinting of the digital signals onto the DVD surface. Is this a common problem and are there any DVDs that are better in this regard? I am using DVD -R discs.
