ParticipantI’m in the market to buy a HD camcorder. There are two that I’ve narrow it down too. Each has its highs and lows. I need help. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

ParticipantI use Canon HV20 camcorder.
It is quite good as consumer level HDV camera,
small and simple to use. It costs around $1000.
(It is not a pro camera of cause)
I managed to make some good video with it using tripod if
sunlight is good enough.
I use it to make HD video clips for a web site, for example.

I cannot tell anything about Sony HDR HC7 camcorder. May be it is just as good too. -

ParticipantThank you for the reply back. So you had issues with the camera in low light?

ParticipantRe: issues with low light?
Yes, HV20 camera appear to demand bright sunlight to produce
good quality video.
I have not tried using it in artifitical light but probably electrical light must be
bright too.
I suspect all "consumer" HDV cameras probably do since they
utilize HD CMOS image sensors not CCD.
This camera has optical image stabilization.
But the camera is so small and light it is hard to keep it very steady in hands.
For best stable results I use tripod. -
