I have a Sony Digital 8 camcorder that is about three years old.
Although it records and plays back digital tapes well, it plays mostly fuzz when I play back a regular 8mm tape recorded on an older non-digital camcorder. That indicates a need for head cleaning, I think.
I want to clean the heads but I am reluctant to use the Sony dry head cleaner tape because I fear it might damage the heads.
Is it OK to use isopropyl alcohol and a swab the way I used to with VCRs? Am I running any risks doing this?
Any other thoughts?
Thank you for any advice you might have.

NO! It would damage the video head completely, do NOT use q-tips and alcohol, better take your camcorder to a service center and have it cleaned.
