Has anyone had their old 8mm reel-to-reel film transferred to digital video? And if so were did you have it done? I would like to have all my familys old film transferred, it is about 25 to 50 years old.

      hi my name is joe
you can look in your local phone book and you should be able to find a place that does it. It usually costs from 20 to 40 dollars depending on what size reel

There are two ways to convert 8mm film. One is to actually video it as it’s playing. The second, which is higher quality but more expensive, is to do it frame by frame, where each frame is photographed.

Either way, 8mm usually looks quite good – people back then tended to set up there shots and didn’t film hours of garbage!

I’ve used this company for conversions: http://www.onetruemedia.com
