ParticipantHey guys, I’ve got some stock footage of an exit wound from a gunshot and i was just wondering if anyone could tell me how to remove the white background, so we can only see the blood splatter?
I’m using Adobe premiere pro cs3.
Thanks for the help!

ParticipantWhat you want to achieve will usually come out much better if you use a program with better features for compositing like After Effects, Combustion, or Shake.
Do you have access to any of those.

InactiveCS3 might be a bit tough; it’s just not geared to serve that purpose

InactiveFirst, make sure your stock footage doesn’t already have an alpha channel. If you know that it doesn’t, you should try a simple luminance key. since Vegas Home Studio doesn’t have a luminance key option, I use my chromakey FX and select the white background as the key color. You’ll have to play the the other parameters to get the keyed effect you want. But for a down and dirty effect, this should work. (Although I must admit that I don’t know the video EFX’s you have available, I just can’t imagine you don’t have the capacity to key something.)
