DVCAM?

I see that Sony has DVCAM as a better way of gathering video imaging. Is it really that much better than just MiniDV?

If I’m using one camera with DVCAM tapes and speed, along with a MiniDV camera, will I see any problems when it’s time to capture them and start editing. Is the quality between the two going to be noticeable, and cause editing problems?

I need to know if I can purchase my second camera without DVCAM capabilities.
