Doing more with a cheap MiniDV

OK this will sound stupid of me but I’m clueless…

Do you know whether I can enable DV-in on a Sony DCR-HC17E (for some reason, manufacturers usually disable that feature in lower end models for the European market)?

Also, can I add external mic input on that little camera? Can I just drill a hole and make a connection?
