I have been videotaping and editing
      informational videos. The speaker
recently held up a package of Oreo
      cookies as an illustration.

Does anyone know if I need copyright
approval to show this package or do
I need to blur the package to avoid
an issue? It is 29 seconds in an hour
      long video.

      Thanks for your help.

First: that’s a trademark violation, not a copyright violation.
Second: you shouldn’t have a problem doing so, but it is probably best to clear it with the company anyway, if they say no, blur it (usually in production, colored tape matched to the packaging works well enough, but its a bit late for that).
Third: IANAL (I am not a lawyer)
