I edit on a Mac Pro. Everything is outputed to MOV file.
I am placing some samples on my website, but not everyone uses quicktime. So I would like to have the option to use Windows Media Player as well.
Are there any free applications to convert .MOV files to .WMV.
Does anyone know an output setting in FCP that would out to a Window Media player format?

Finding this out a couple months ago. You have to purchase Flip4Mac to export any footage to WMV. files. If you just download the trial version, it will only do 30 seconds of footage. So you have to buy it.
Here is the link. http://www.flip4mac.com/store_wmv.htm
I hope this helps.

Another option to consider is to convert the mov files to Flash instead. That allows you to embed them on your webpages and the resulting files are small. I use a free video to flash converter from DVDvideosoft – it works well and includes the flash player.

I got some MOV files not from my Mac Pro but from Canon. To import the MOV files to Windows Movie Maker, what I need to do is to convert MOV to WMV for WMM.
It seems to be the similar workflow as yours. Please refer to http://jacknjchn.tumblr.com/post/58975120190/mov-files-in-wmm-edit-and-import-canon-eos-rebel-t3i

I can add my MOV files to Windows Live Movie Maker 2011, and the audio works but the video is corrupted. I have tried with small files and larger files and cannot get it to play them properly or convert them.
