I was looking at Canon’s camcorders and I was wondering which of these three camcorders would be the best all around camcorder for shooting a movie. The camcorders are the Elura 90, Optura 60, and the ZR400. I was wondering which camcorder would give me the best resolution, best color, and so forth.
I’m not all that familiar with the new Elura/Optura/ZR series, but I used a ZR 45 for about 2 years before I got a GL2, and it was great. So I’d go with the ZR400. Also, if you can save a little more money, get the Optura Xi. It has a lot of nice features such as zebra stripes and manual audio gain control.
Someone in the organization I’m affiliated with uses an optura 60 for behind the scenes documentary footage. It always looks rather good for a 1 CCD camera. I believe it has manual controls for white balance, audio, iris, focus, etc.
