Photos are stored in the Mac OSX in date order: (YY.MM.DD) But when I import them into FCP browser, rather than treating them as dates, they are sorted as a column of decimal figures. That is, 48.11.25 becomes 48.1.1.25, putting November and December dates between January and February. Is there a date format that FCP recognises other that what we have done? We’re importing 7-800 photos that need to be kept in date order – how can we do this?

Bins might help. Create a bin for each month and year. Jan 2011, Feb 2011, etc
